原诗作者是 Christina Georgina Rossetti，英国诗人 Dante Gabriel Rossetti 的妹妹。1928年，徐志摩将此诗翻译成中文。
1974年，20岁的罗大佑（彼时他还是台中私立中国医药学院医学系的学生,我还没上学）以此为词，为刘文正的电影“闪亮的日子”创作了《歌》。
